ITA Airways to Leave Sky Team Alliance Tomorrow (April 30)

The decision is due to the purchase of ITA by Lufthansa, which is part of Star Alliance. According to ITA executives:

"ITA AIRWAYS WILL LEAVE THE CURRENT SKY TEAM ALLIANCE TO JOIN STAR ALLIANCE DUE TO THE FACT THAT LUFTHANSA IS A MEMBER OF IT. THEREFORE, AFTER THE RECENT ACQUISITION BY THE LATTER, ITA AIRWAYS WILL COMPLY WITH THE REQUESTS OF THE "LUFTHANSA GROUP" . HOWEVER, WE WILL NOT JOIN STAR ALLIANCE BEFORE THE END OF 2025.

According to what has been said, ITA will join Star Alliance no earlier than 2026.

For all those who currently have the ITA AIRWAYS - VOLARE loyalty program, they will be able to continue using it with ITA and with the airlines with which there is code sharing .
